Building violations force game room closures

Three of the five active game rooms were ordered to close their doors following recent unannounced inspections conducted by Fort Stockton City Code Enforcement and the Fort Stockton Police Department.

Owners of the Ocean King game room at 305 N. Main St have slapped a fresh coat of aqua blue paint on the building after facing another city-ordered closure. The business deemed out of compliance is making desperate attempts to abide to the city ordinances and be approved by the city Building Official, after over ten-days of being closed. Commissioners adopt budget, set tax rate public hearing

The Pecos County Commissioners Court approved the 2022 budget at its Aug. 16 meeting. The proposed total tax rate is 0.777 per $100 valuation compared to the 2021 rate of 0.7074. The general fund rate is 0.0654; road and bridge is 0.0123; and debt service is 0.00.

Volleyball splits games to open season

The Fort Stockton volleyball team opened the season with a pair of contests at Odessa Permian High School on Tuesday. The Prowlers varsity squad garnered a 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 sweep against Palo Duro before falling to the host school 25-15, 25-17, 25-23.
