Seems like summer is just starting to really heat up in Texas, yet it is almost time for children to go back to school. Soon motorists will be sharing the roads with school buses, children walking or on bicycles, and lots of new teen drivers taking their first car to school.

Fort Stockton Community Theatre’s production of “A Bad Year for Tomatoes,” a comedy by John Patrick and directed by Alice Duerksen will open tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 27 at 7:00 p.m. for a six-performance run.

Rey Lopez will retire from the United States Postal Service on Friday, Aug. 27 after 31 years of service. “I love my job. My customers, I’ll miss them,” Lopez said. Lopez is a Fort Stockton native, graduating high school from Fort Stockton High School in 1972.
