Grey Mule’s grapevine produces its first fruits

Body
The Grey Mule Saloon wine tasting room at 101 E Callaghan St. has discovered its first batch of grapes produced from its small backyard vineyard. The Grey Mule planted its vines back in April of 2017, which is a testament to the patience required with growing fresh grapes.
Sweet and floral muscat canelli grapes have arrived to the downtown Grey Mule Saloon wine tasting room. It takes at least three years for grapevines to begin producing grapes. The Grey Mule staff says the clusters are extremely sweet and that the grapes were well worth the wait. Photo by Jeremy Gonzalez

Geocaching in Fort Stockton

Body
The Comanche Creek Trail Committee invites the public to participate in a new ongoing event at its nature site, Geocaching. A geocache is like a real-life treasure hunt where participants use a global positioning system, a mobile phone, or a map and compass to find hidden geocaches, or “caches,” that have been hidden at specific locations marked by coordinates.

The Lord stills a storm

Body
Mark 4:35 “On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, ‘Let us go across to the other side.’ 36 And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. Other boats were with him. 37 A great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and said to him, ‘Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?’ 39 He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ Then the wind ceased, and there was a dead calm. 40 He said to them, ‘Why are you afraid? Have you still no faith?’ 41 And they were filled with great awe and said to one another, ‘Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?’”

LOOKING BACK - July 1984

Body
July 1984 issue: WATER HAULERS – If you gotta haul drinking water, two bikes and a long stick can sure come in handy. Coyanosa residents like Omar Garcia, 7, and Lourdes Carrasco, 11, have been hauling a lot of drinking water since a high nitrate concentration was found in the community’s water supply. These two are headed for Coyanosa’s most used watering hole – a well owned by Robert Gamboa.

Dear Fort Stockton, I have loved you since the day was born, I can’t picture myself I growing up anywhere other than here. My family’s roots run deep in Fort Stockton, my roots run deep in Fort Stockton and I’m glad I never have to imagine what it would be like if that weren’t the case.
