January is School Board Month

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will join 1,024 school districts throughout Texas to celebrate January as School Board Recognition Month. School board members are volunteers who shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices for school districts, all without pay.

Pasture improvement seminar coming up

The Far West Texas Pasture Improvement Virtual Seminar will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. This seminar is unique in that five county extension agents from West Texas have come together to put this program on for ranchers, farmers, and stake holders within the agriculture industry in West Texas. Those extension agents are Zach Schaefer from Culberson County, Payton Keifer from Pecos County, Jacob Rickman from Reeves County, Haley LaCaze from Ward County, and Matlin Sain from Presidio County.

The Scott’s Orioles and Black-chinned hummingbirds have long since moved south. The kingbirds and swallows are gone, and Common Poorwills no longer call in the evenings. The warblers and flycatchers that paused for a brief rest in your yard during September and October are now on their wintering grounds far away.

Rosella Yvonne De Anda

Rosella Yvonne De Anda went to be with the Lord on Nov. 17, 2020 at the age of 65. Rosella was born on Dec. 3, 1954 in Fort Stockton, Texas. Rosella is survived by her husband Jose Gregorio De Anda of El Paso; one son Roel Gregorio De Anda of El Paso, two daughters Rolaura De Anda and Romelia Luz Aragon of El Paso; five grandchildren Joseph Gregorio De Anda, Julian Cesar Aragon, Jayleen Rosemary Aragon, Mark Del Leon, and Daniel De Leon; three brothers Manuel G. Espino of Fort Stockton, Guillermo G. Espino of Fort Stockton, and Fernando Espino of Midland; one sister Lorina Yvette Luna of Leander.
