Setting a new standard: Panthers reach 10 wins for 2nd time in school history

Body
Leading up to Friday’s 4A-2 bi-district playoff game against Perryton, first-year Fort Stockton head coach Jeremy Hickman had a simple, yet impactful message for his team, “fight for 10.” The second 10-win season in school history was on the line in the contest and the Panthers had to do just that to cement their legacy in the record books. Fort Stockton fell behind 7-0 on the first play from scrimmage and rallied behind a turnoverfree offense and a dominant performance in the trenches on both sides of the ball to get a 20-14 victory.

Longhorns set for Area battle with Westbrook

Body
Buena Vista’s Longhorns continue their quest for the gold ball Friday night in Garden City, but the Longhorns (7-4) have a huge obstacle in their way in defending state champion Westbrook. The Longhorns advanced to the Area Round with an 86-36 win over O’Donnell last Friday at Borden County School, and they did it with a concerted effort on both sides of the ball against an underrated O’Donnell Eagles team that presented many challenges.
