Editor’s Note: Trigger Warning, subject: Infant Loss. What began as a routine meeting for the Pecos County Memorial Hospital District Board of Directors on November 18, became a deeply moving occasion with the powerful donation presented by Adrian and Becky Martinez of Patrick’s Promise Foundation.
In honor of their son, Patrick Joel Martinez, Adrian and Becky Martinez started Patrick’s Promise Foundation to support other parents in times of infant child loss. Last week the Martinez family donated two “Angel Boxes” and a Caring Cradle to the Pecos County Memorial Hospital. Pioneer Photo

Seventy years ago, the Annie Riggs Memorial Museum began its life as a public historic landmark, marked by a solemn and significant dedication ceremony. The historic transfer of the property, previously known as the Riggs Hotel, to the community for use as a museum was noted on the front page of the local Pioneer paper in the November 24, 1955, issue.

In a truly exceptional reflection of Thanksgiving and community service, the remarkable success of an annual Thanksgiving meal outreach event continues to grow in scale. This community-driven project was started approximately 14 years ago by Olga Gonzalez and focuses on providing full, hot Thanksgiving meals to the elderly residents of Fort Stockton.
