City weathers winter storm

Body Like most parts of Texas, Fort Stockton had to take on the numerous challenges unleashed by the recent arctic temperatures. However, the City of Fort Stockton prepared a week in advance and was not blindsided by the frigid conditions.

COVID-19 active cases drop to 4-month low

Body It has been over four months since active COVID-19 cases in Pecos County have dropped below 20 people. On Tuesday, Feb. 16 the active case number reported in the county was 18 – the lowest number reported since Sept. 28, 2020. There have been 17 new cases reported from Feb.

New trail coming to national park

Body The cast of Fort Stockton Community Theatre’s production of “Mama Won’t Fly” invites everyone to make reservations for one of the five performances, starting on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. The play will also run from Feb. 22. There will be a matinee at 2:00 p.m.

Land Office launches Texas Defense Task Force

Body On Feb. 8 Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced formation of the Texas Defense Task Force within the General Land Office, with the mission to identify federal overreach and fend off threats to the Texas oil and gas economy.

Hoff now U.S. attorney for the Western District

Body On Jan. 26, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas appointed Ashley Chapman Hoff as U.S. Attorney effective Jan. 25. U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman administered the oath of office to Hoff at the federal courthouse in Austin.
