I recently saw a video of a rescued dog. He had been in a cage all his life. A lady went to an animal rescue place and purchased him. Now he belonged to a different owner, and she took the door off the cage because she wanted him to know he was free. But he would not come out. He learned that his new owner loved him and cared for him. Often, he and his new owner walked down the street together enjoying each other. The life that dog had reminds me of something in the Bible. We are born with a sin nature, (Psalm 51:5). Very shortly we yield to that sin nature and so do things against God’s will, every one of us, (Romans 3;23, 1 John 1:8). The consequences or penalty for sinning is separation from God and eternity in Hell, (Romans 6:23). But God loves us and wants us to be reconciled to him, our sins forgiven or wiped out, (Romans 5:10, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 1 Corinthians 1:21). So, we must realize we are inners separated from God but if we realize that we can come to God ask forgiveness of our sins and call upon Jesus Christ to cleanse us of our sins, (1 John 1:5, 1 Thessalonians 5:23). God gives us a new life, new hope and new future, (Isaiah 1:18, 1 John 3:5, John 3:16). See you in Church next Sunday. Brother J

TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION The TxDOT El Paso District is the first in the state to implement and activate a variable speed limit (VSL) to address congestion, weather, construction, and other roadway conditions. “Speed is one of the top contributing factors in traffic crashes in Texas,” said Eduardo Perales, P.E., TxDOT El Paso District director of transportation operations, “This provides an additional tool to alert drivers of congestion or undesirable conditions impacting the road ahead and to reduce their speed.

GARDENER’S MAILBAG Dear Neil, Our neighbor has a large magnolia tree that casts very heavy shade into our yard. It has left us with a large bare area, and we’ve been unable to grow either turfgrass or hostas there.

The Fort Stockton High School Prowler basketball teams faced a challenging stretch of games this past week, battling hard against tough district opponents. The varsity team endured a tough loss to the Seminole Maidens on January 21 but rebounded with an impressive win against the Monahans Lady Loboes on January 24, showcasing their resilience and determination.

The Fort Stockton Middle School Panther basketball teams showcased their determination and grit over the past week, competing in the Andrews A Tournament and traveling to Greenwood for hard-fought games against the Rangers. 7th Grade White Team Triumphs Over Greenwood.
