The Pecos County Commissioners Court convened for its regular session on Monday, February 24, 10 a.m. in the County Courtroom at the Pecos County Courthouse.

The Fort Stockton City Council held its regular meeting on Monday, February 24, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting covered a wide range of topics, including public hearings, resolutions, and regular business items, with a highlight of celebrating the Fort Stockton Special Olympic athletes and coaches, recognizing their achievements and contributions to the community.

LAREDO – Sophomore Vivian Jimenez had four hits as the Sul Ross State University softball team (1-7 Lone Star Conference, 4-13) lost 5-3 and 7-5 to Texas A&M International (5-2 LSC, 12-7), Sunday at Dustdevil Softball Field.

I remember when my wife and I were blessed with the arrival of a new grandson. I enjoyed watching mother and new baby together. She got up early in the morning and worked in the kitchen. She had a little crib close by and she talked to him and he made funny little sounds back to her. It is amazing the bond that is developing between them and the love relationship they have. As I watched him in his little crib kicking and smiling I wondered what his future will be? Our newest grandson reminds me of something in the Bible. I wonder what Mary thought when she was informed by the Angel Gabriel that she would have a child? She had lived in a way that pleased God very much and as a result He was going to bless her in a very special way, (Luke 1:26-35). She was going to have a baby but no ordinary baby, as He was to be the Son of the Most High, (The Son of God) and His name was to be Jesus, (Matthew 1:18-25). He was going to be a King and would save people from their sins, (Luke 2:10&11). The Bible does not say much about the early years that Mary spent with her son but we know she loved Him and tenderly cared for Him, (Luke 2:7). Let’s not forgot why He came and what He did.
