Ramirez, Dominguez claim bronze to conclude regular season

Jeremiah Ramirez and CT Dominguez joined forces for the first time this season on the tennis court during Fort Stockton’s regular season finale on March 24 in Odessa at the Friday Night Lights Invitational.

Their result suggested anything but a newly formed pairing.

The duo earned bronze medals in the boy’s doubles division at an event that featured three of the four 6A teams from the Odessa/Midland area.

Prowlers corralled by rival Monahans

Fort Stockton was defeated via run rule for the first time this season in a 13-3 road loss on March 24 against defending district champion Monahans.

The Lady Loboes plated four runs in the fourth inning and added eight runs in the third frame to end the game after 4 ½ innings.

Seminole bats outpace Panthers in district opener

During the Panthers first 16 games of the season, Fort Stockton averaged 14 hits and 12 runs per game in their non-district slate. The Panther sizzling bats were cooled significantly in their district opener at Seminole on March 21 by pitcher Rowan Donaldson, who was 4A District 2 Newcomer of the Year as a freshman in 2022.

Softball: Fort Stockton attains first district win

Fort Stockon’s next pair of games will be against two of the top three teams in their district in Monahans and Andrews, who are 3-0 and 2-1 respectively in district play this season. With the challenging task ahead in the next five days, Fort Stockton was in a near must-win situation on the road on March 21 at Seminole as both programs went 0-2 to start their district slate.

Basketball: Prowler trio garner academic all-state honors

The Texas Army National Guard and the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA), along with the Fort Stockton High School Girls Basketball program, are proud to recognize the 2022-2023 Academic All-State recipients.

Senior Eliana Mata was selected to the THSCA Academic All-State Second Team while Arial Smith and Estrella Aguilar were honorable mention.

Hernandez earns bronze at state powerlifting meet

Rosa Hernandez won every meet she competed in for the Fort Stockton girl’s powerlifting team heading into the state meet on Friday, March 17 in Frisco.

The senior put forth another outstanding performance in her final meet as a Prowler.

Hernandez improved five spots from her performance at state a season ago, earning a bronze medal with a third-place finish in the 97-pound weight class on Friday.

Panthers claim title at Sandhills Relays

Body
Another championship was earned by the Panther track team on March 10 at the Sandhills Relays in Monahans, marking their second title in three outings this season. Zane Hodges won a trio of individual events – triple jump, 110-meter hurdles, 300 hurdles – Aryan Hernandez claimed a gold in the long jump, and Diego Ronquillo secured first place in the pole vault with a 10-foot clearance.

By the end of the fourth inning, Fort Stockton was staring at a 4-0 deficit on the road in their district opener against Greenwood – a team who swept the Prowlers a season ago. Fort Stockton senior cleanup hitter Adree Bueno changed the narrative of Friday’s game with one swing of the bat in the top of the fifth frame.

Panther Powerlifting: Sanchez qualifies for state

Fort Stockton senior Justin Sanchez punched his ticket to the state powerlifting meet and set a record in the process during the Panthers’ regional meet on March 10 in Abilene. Sanchez, who competed in the 198-pound division, set the regional bench press record at 410 pounds and had a three-lift total of 1,435 pounds – surpassing the state-qualifying mark by 35 pounds.

Signing day at Fort Stockton High School

Body
Three Fort Stockton athletes signed their letters of intent to compete at the next level at universities in the surrounding area on March 9 at the Special Events Center. Eliana Mata and Isaiah Garcia will be headed to Alpine to continue their athletic careers at Sul Ross State University.
Cruz Rojas (yellow) signed a letter of intent to play football at Angelo State University on March 9 at Fort Stockton High School.
