Volleyball splits games to open season

The Fort Stockton volleyball team opened the season with a pair of contests at Odessa Permian High School on Tuesday. The Prowlers varsity squad garnered a 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 sweep against Palo Duro before falling to the host school 25-15, 25-17, 25-23.

Panther tennis receives tough test to begin season

Starting off the tennis season without any seniors, the young Fort Stockton Panthers were able to gauge themselves against a pair of powerhouse tennis teams to start the 2021 campaign. Fort Stockton traveled to two separate locations on Tuesday, first stopping at Brownfield in the morning before concluding play at Seminole – a 40 minute drive southwest from Brownfield.

Boxing coach Gilbert “Dinamitts” Roybal has worked with one of the best prospects he has ever coached for the past five years.

When Roybal first took Abel Mendoza under his wing, the Fort Stockton born boxer was three professional fights into his career after a 300-fight amateur campaign that began when Mendoza was 8-years-old.

Boxer puts perfect record on the line

Becoming a world champion boxer has long been in the sights of Fort Stockton born boxer Abel Mendoza. The longtime Pecos resident, who is currently training out of Odessa and Midland, started his boxing career at 8-years-old.

Football season tickets on sale

Season tickets will go on sale on July 29 and will be available in the athletic office at the high school. Season ticket holders from 2019 will get the first choice of tickets for the first two weeks of sales.

The Fort Stockton Spring City Boys hosted the Los Yonke Gallos De Marfa in an adult summer league baseball game on July 17 at Blue Sox Field in Rooney Park. The game was organized by the nonprofit group, Texas Water Trade, which is spearheading the Comanche Springs restoration in collaboration with the City of Fort Stockton. The event was put on in part to raise awareness of the springs and the long-term plan to restore flow of the springs year-round. Individuals who participated in the game for Fort Stockton included: Dustin Lopez, Jordan Dominguez, Jason Williams, RJ Bernal, Isais Rojas, Adam Marlee, Fabian Zorilla, Alec Racides, Angel Marquez, Gama Corral, Orlando Racides, Saul Talavera.
