Fort Stockton High School’s Blue Wave swimmers competed Friday at the District 2-4A meet in Pecos, and several swimmers qualified for next weekend’s regional championships in Andrews.

The girls 200-yard Medley relay team of Zeeta Celaya, Paige Williams, Aviana Vargas, and Arissa Jimenez, placed third, punching their ticket to regionals.

According to the regional entries received Sunday, the 200 medley relay team is in the top eight regional times and would compete in the regional finals if prelims marks hold true on Saturday.

Arissa Jimenez, a senior, finished fourth in the 50 freestyle, qualifying for the regional meet. Arissa’s time would also qualify her for the finals heat in the 50 free. Rylan Jimenez placed seventh in the 50-yard free.

The girls 200 free relay of Celeya, Williams, Aviana Vargas and Jimenez also finished third in the district meet, qualifying for regionals. Their time makes them a top-eight seed at regionals.

Junior Paige Williams placed seventh in the 100yard breaststroke as the last swimmer competing for the Blue Wave swimmers.

Regionals take place Jan. 27-28 in Andrews. The finals will start Friday at 12:10 p.m. and Saturday at 11:10 a.m.
