Fort Stockton’s playoffs hopes are still alive and well.

The Prowlers traveled to Seminole on April for the teams second district matchup and Fort Stockton came away with a victory in another down to the wire finish between the ballclubs.

The Prowlers tallied 14 runs on 10 hits and held off a six-run final inning by Seminole to earn the 14-12 win.

Seminole pitchers walked 11 Fort Stockton batters and the Maidens defense committed eight errors during Tuesday’s contest.

Ivanna Ortiz led the Fort Stockton offense with three hits and three runs – the second-highest total in both categories this season for the centerfielder.

Freshman Kriselda Porras tallied a double-digit hit total for the third time this season in the win. Porras scratched out a pair of singles and an RBI.

Porras, Adree Bueno, Aryanna Gonzalez, and Alyana Dominguez each saw time on the mound for the Prowlers. The group allowed 13 hits, 10 walks, and struck out four Maiden batters.

Porras got the start and pitched one inning, allowing three hits, and striking out one before her day on the mound was done. Aryanna Gonzalez relieved Porras and pitched three innings, allowing three hits, four walks, and struck out two.

Bueno pitched 2.1 innings and gave up six hits, six walks, and struck out one batter in her stint on the mound. Dominguez recorded the final two outs and allowed one hit against the three bats batters she faced.

Fort Stockton is tied with Greenwood for fourth place in the district standings after the Tuesday’s win. Up next is

Loboes bats a little too much for Prowlers

Fort Stockton opened their second round of district play on April 1 at Monahans.

The Lady Loboes took a 4-0 lead in the first inning and closed the contest with six runs in the sixth inning to claim a 13-3 mercy-rule victory.

A Bueno home run in the second inning ignited a brief Prowlers rally that narrowed their deficit to 4-2 by the end of the third frame.

Monahans had a 7-3 lead entering the sixth inning before ending the game with an offensive flurry that featured a home run, two hits, and three walks.

Monahans outhit Fort Stockton 11-6 and the Loboes pitching staff recorded seven strikeouts to the Prowlers three.

Fort Stockton proved to have a cleaner game on defensive with a 3-2 error advantage.

Fort Stockton head coach Darrian Roberson noted her team’s double play in third inning as a highlight on defense. The first-year skipper added that her team will continue to show resiliency as district play rolls on.

“Although our bats were consistent this game, the game didn’t fall our way. The girls are still working extremely hard and I believe we will fight the rest of district and make great things happen,” she said.

Monahans improved to 2-0 against Fort Stockton with the win. The Lady Loboes beat the Prowlers in their first meeting 9-6 on March 15.
