Fort Stockton’s bats were back up to par in their rematch with Seminole on March 24 at home.

But four Panther errors, a pair of home steals, and a missed opportunity at the plate in the final inning allowed the Indians to capture a 7-6 win over Fort Stockton to complete the regular season sweep.

Fort Stockton turned a 4-1 deficit into a 6-4 lead during a five-run fourth inning before Seminole’s late rally.

In the seventh and final inning, Seminole began the frame with Obed Reyes being hit by a pitch, followed by a Hayden Zac Ridge walk.

Zac Ridge stole home, tying the game at 6-6, with one out before Noah Luna hit a two-out triple at the bottom of the order.

Luna stole home on a past ball before a lineout ended the top of the seventh inning.

Fort Stockton followed by loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh via a Jacob Pacheco single, a Gerry Diaz walk, and Xzavier Dominguez walk.

A strikeout ended the game and Fort Stockton moved to 0-2 in the district standings as a result.

Diaz, a freshman, led the Panthers with two of Fort Stockton’s seven hits.

Nunez had a team-best two RBIs in a 1-of-2 evening at the plate.

Fort Stockton hit their full stride on offense in the fourth inning as the Panthers tallied four of their seven hits in the frame.

Julian Leyva led the inning with a walk and Diaz ensued with a triple.

Molina added a triple while Dominguez and Nunez tallied singles in the fourth.

Fort Stockton utilized four pitchers in the game with Diaz getting the start.

In three innings, Diaz struck out six batters, allowed six hits, three earned runs, and three walks before Leyva took over pitching duties.

Leyva threw the next two innings, striking out three batters, walking one, and allowing two hits.

Nunez started the sixth inning on the mound and lasted 1 1/3 innings before Isaiah Velasquez took over for the final two outs.

Nunez struck out one batter, walked one, and allowed no hits.

Velasquez threw 19 pitches against the three batters he faced. The junior allowed one hit, one earned run, and a walk.

With four pitchers appearing in Fort Stockton’s second district game, the Panthers have now used five pitchers in two district games.

Nunez was the lone pitcher to make appearances in both Seminole matchups.

Fort Stockton will head to Monahans on Tuesday, March 28 for their next district bout.
