Prowlers swept at Midland Legacy

The Fort Stockton Prowlers traveled to Midland to take on Midland Legacy High School in a non-district contest last week. The varsity took a tough loss 25-20, 25-18, 25-12. The Rebels proved to be a tough opponent, but they were able to provide the Prowlers with a practice plan of things to improve moving forward.

“It is always tough to lose, but I know that our program is getting stronger with each game,” Coach Tully-Mitchell said. “As we get closer to district, we are trying to mentally and physically prepare ourselves for what is to come.”

The sub varsity squads were unsuccessful in securing a victory but have shown tremendous growth when it comes to Head Coach Tully-Mitchell’s style of play. Each of the three teams had positives come out of the losses. The teams will now go to their regularly scheduled freshman and junior varsity teams for the remainder of the season.

7th Blue wins tournament title

For Stockton middle school played host to their annual middle school volleyball tournament. The 7th grade blue team faced Kermit for their first match. They were able to beat Kermit. For their second match they faced Pecos. It was a tight game, but the team pushed through to make their way to the championship. For the championship they played against Presidio A-team. They played together as a team and were able to beat Presidio to win the championship.

*The seventh grade Blue had a great game and worked as a team to beat Monahans 25-6, 25-12 on Monday. Outstanding server was Azrha Natividad. *The seventh grade White fell to Monahans in straight sets Monday afternoon.

“We played hard and competed well, unfortunately we came up short in both sets,” said coach Pat Pena. “We had some outstanding defensive players Hallie Ruiz, Victoria Ramirez, and Addy Gonzales.”

Prowler 8th graders compete The 8th grade Prowler White team participated in the annual Fort Stockton volleyball tournament. The Prowlers struggled with serve receiving and maintain- ing consistency in their serves.

“We are determined to make those improvements as the season progresses,” said coach Ella Gonzales. “Prowlers never quit and will persevere.

The Prowlers lost to Crane 16-25, 26-24, 6-15 and to Monahans 25-20, 25-15.

*The eighth grade White fell to Monahans 25-22, 25-23 on Monday.

“The setters, Meagan Hanson and Gisele Caballero, did an outstanding job hustling and leading the team,” said coach Ellla Gonzales.

Middle School Prowlers fall to Seminole The Prowler White team showed tremendous improvement against the Seminole Maidens, but fell 25-18, 25-15.

“The score does not represent the Prowler’s efforts and determination,” said coach Ella Gonzales. “Setters, Meagan Hanson and Gisele Caballero hustled to get an offense going. Julianna Tarango had some great passes in the Libero position.”

8th Grade A-team falls The Fort Stockton Middle School Eighth grade A-team took one on the chin Thursday, falling to Seminole 25-18, 25-12.

“We played a tough team,” said coach Vanessa Loya. “We started out slow, but we finally got momentum, it was just too late to catch up and take the win, but we never gave up and played our hearts out.”

*The A-team downed Monahans 25-16, 25-19 on Monday night.

7th grade White downs Seminole The Prowlers played host to the Seminole Maidens Thursday afternoon, winning both sets 25-16, 25-11.

“All girls played well as a team,” said coach Pat Pena. “We had two outstanding servers Camila Nieto and Hallie Ruiz. Our outstanding defense player was Hallie Ruiz and our outstanding offensive player was Seidi Elias.

7th grade Blue falls

The Prowlers faced the Maidens Thursday at home, and while the scores were not provided, coach Melissa Posada said the prowlers had a great game, coming away with a win.

“They managed to work together as a team and beat the Seminole Maidens,” Posada said. “Outstanding server was Lexus Sotelo.”
