Prowlers prey on Lady Bucks

Fort Stockton secured their third win in their last four outings on Sept. 17 in a non-district matchup at Alpine.

The Prowlers swept the Lady Bucks (25-20, 25-22, 26-24) with a well-balanced offensive attack that was guided through returning alldistrict first teamer Eliana Mata.

The senior had one her highest assist totals of the season in the match with 21. Seniors Angie Aguirre and Amaya Urias tied for the team-high seven kills and the latter put forth her best serving game of the season with a teamhigh three aces. Urias also had a team-best two blocks. Aryanna Gonzalez tallied 19 digs and Ivanna Ortiz followed with 10 digs. Mia Garcia and Sophia Hernandez recorded the third and fourthhighest kill totals in the contest with five and four respectively.

The meeting was the first and last between the squads this season as the Prowlers start district play on Sept. 24 at Greenwood.

Fort Stockton improved their record to 17-10 with the win.

The Prowlers concluded non-district play on Sept. 20 at Midland High and will begin district competition on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Greenwood.
