Prowlers JV secures comeback win against Steers
The JV Prowlers basketball team traveled to Big Spring Saturday to take on the Lady Steers once again.
The Prowlers got off to a slow start offensively, but their defense kept the Lady Steers from getting an insurmountable lead. Trailing after the first quarter, the Prowlers took the halftime lead 12-8. The Prowlers won each of the next two quarters and won the game 22-14.
Keanna Torres led the team in scoring with eight points. Amaya Urias added 5 points and much needed rebounds. Janeth Benavides contributed four points and played tough defense. Briana Flores and Kat Mendoza both scored a basket each. Finally, Jahel Encinas added a free throw to round out the scoring.
The Prowlers improved their season record to 8-6 on the season with the win.
Fort Stockton’s subvarsity Prowler squad snapped its losing streak with a 22-8 blowout against Big Spring.
Aryanna Gonzalez led the Prowlers with 12 points. Melena Ramirez scored four points. Estrella Aguilar, Nayeli Ramos and Aubrianna Whitecotton each added two points apiece.
