The Fort Stockton volleyball team started district play with a loss on Saturday at Monahans.

The Prowlers forced a fourth set with a third-set victory but were unable to complete the comeback in the loss (25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23).

“The Prowlers battled fiercely through all four sets but came up short,” Fort Stockton head coach Gabrielle Harral said.

Senior Alyana Dominguez led Fort Stockton in kills with 13 and added four blocks – the second-highest mark on the team. Ivanna Ortiz and Eliana Mata nearly split assists evenly with 13 and 10 respectively.

Mata had a team-high 17 digs and Arial Smith led all Prowlers in the block department with five.

The defeat snaps Fort Stockton’s five-game winning streak and moves the Prowlers record to 19-9.
