Prowlers down Odessa High in rematch
The Fort Stockton volleyball team got back to their winning ways and did so in impressive fashion in a rematch against Odessa High on Sept. 6 at home.
The Prowlers were able to sweep the Broncos once again, doing so 10 days after their first meeting in the semifinals of the Comanche Classic.
Fort Stockton exemplified their versatility in the win as three players tallied at least 10 digs, four players had at least three kills, and both setters – Eliana Mata and Alyssa Rangel – were nearly even in the assist margin.
Mata, a returning all-district first-team selection a season ago, was at the forefront of the Prowlers’ success. The senior had a team-high 11 assists and tied for a team-high three aces, along with five kills and seven digs.
Aryanna Gonzalez had one of her better performances of the season from her libero position with an efficient 19 digs and Adree Bueno followed with 13 digs.
Amaya Urias tallied a team-high seven kills and senior Angie Aguirre finished the contest with three aces and three kills.
Ivanna Ortiz recorded 10 digs and Alyssa Rangel had nine assists.
Fort Stockton’s record improved to 15-9 with Tuesday’s win..
The Prowlers will host Midland Legacy on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Bill & Virginia Williams Special Events Center (SEC). Games are set to take place at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Compass Academy, Permian gets best of Fort Stockton
The Prowlers losing streak was extended to three games following a pair of losses to quality programs last week.
Fort Stockton faced Compass Academy for the third time on Aug. 30 in a road game and fell 25-15, 25-20, 25-20.
The Prowlers followed with a home loss to Permian on Sept. 2 in a three-set affair (25-12, 25-17, 25-19).
