Esther Tercero, Tori Wilkins, and Madelyn Martinez went back-to-back on Saturday, bringing home gold medals in their respective weight divisions for the second consecutive meet on Saturday at the Mustang Powerlifting Invitational in Andrews.

Their efforts led the Fort Stockton girls to first-place finish as a team with 51 points.
Tercero maintained her unblemished record as she has now won all three meets the Prowlers have competed in this season. Wilkins and Martinez have each won two.

Ileana De La Rosa, Rochelle Quiroz, Shelby Murphy, and Izabella Diaz each earned silver medals for the Prowlers to round out a superior performance and a second team title in row.

The Panthers took third place – their first time this season not winning a meet – but added a pair of lighter division competitor to their lineup in Quaylon Rios and Andrew Rangel.

Rios, who is the only Fort Stockton boy who qualified for swimming regionals in two events, had the weekend off from his duties in the pool, and in turn took second place in the 114-pound weight division.

Rangel finished in sixth place at 123 pounds.

Jaydrien Ramirez stayed perfect for the Panthers – marking him and Tercero as the two Fort Stockton athletes who have won their division’s in all three meets this season.

The gold-medal effort gave his team seven of their 30 team points, good enough for a third-place finish.

Ramirez, as he has done all season, won his weight division (181 pounds) by a considerable margin. The sophomore lifted a total of 1,205 pounds combined via the deadlift, squat, and bench. The weight was 115 pounds more than the runner-up in the division from Midland Greenwood.

The underclassman squatted an impressive 490 pounds – 2.75 times his weigh-in weight (177.8 pounds).

Kendrick Porras joined Rios as a runner-up, accomplishing the feat at 132 pounds. Porras lifted a total of 970 pounds.

Jaylee Ibarra (148 pounds), Caison Burrus (132 pounds), and Edgar Flores (198 pounds) each claimed bronze medals in their respective divisions.

Fort Stockton will host their first powerlifting meet of the season on Feb. 13
