Panthers open Levelland Linedrive Classic with win

first game of the Levelland Linedrive Classic on Thursday, March 4.

The Panthers tallied double-digit hits for the third time this season with 10 in the back-and-forth game that featured three lead changes.

Devon Rodriguez and Evian Castro led the team with two hits apiece. Five other Fort Stockton batters managed to get on base by way of a hit.

Alex Williams led things off on the hill for Fort Stockton. The pitcher allowed zero hits and one run over two innings, walking one.

Fort Stockton took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Perryton tied the game, plating two runners in the top of the frame.

Adrian Hernandez’s leadoff single represented the go-ahead run in the fourth as Castro drove in Hernandez on ground ball to second base with no outs and the bases loaded.

The contest ended after six innings and improved the Panthers record to 5-2. Fort Stockton closes the day with a contest against Levelland.
