Ozona gets best of Fort Stockton in non-district matchup
Returning 2A District 7 champion Ozona proved to be a tough test for the Prowlers in their third game of the regular season on Nov. 15 in Fort Stockton.
Ozona was led by senior Raelee Garza, who scored a game-high15 points.
The away team took an 18-3 lead after the first quarter -- all by way of 2-point buckets -- and a 32-8 advantage by halftime.
Five Lady Lions scored at least seven points each -- a mark that was higher than the Prowlers' top scorer.
The Lions defeated the Prowlers 57-26, moving Fort Stockton’s record to 1-2.
Mia Garcia led the way in the scoring department for the second time this season with five points for the varsity squad.
Yvette Lopez, Amaya Urias and Keanna Torres scored four points each.
The Prowlers will look to remedy their defeat in an away contest at Sweetwater (1-2) on Friday, Nov. 18.
Fort Stockton’s next home game will be on Tuesday, Nov. 22 against San Angelo TLCA at 12:30 p.m.
JV Prowlers snag up win Fort Stockton’s junior varsity won a 43-42 nailbiter against Ozona behind a team-high 10 points for the Prowlers.
Jocelynn Arcides had 10 points, Karissa Salmon scored seven and Kimbree Norman finished with six.
The junior varsity squad is now 2-1 in nontournament play.
