Norman drops 24, propels freshman squad past Andrews
Freshman Kash Norman showed his potential on the football field this past fall.
Now he’s showing that he could be a standout on the varsity basketball squad in the years ahead.
Norman scored 24 points against Andrews in a 47-45 come-from-behind victory for the Panthers on Jan. 20.
“We trailed the entire game but cranked up the defensive pressure in the fourth to come from behind and win the game,” coach Richard Rojas said. “This was a great win because we did not play our best in the beginning. The boys could have easily given up, but tough teams win.”
The Panthers junior varsity was defeated by the Mustangs on Friday 55-44.
”We played hard, leading the scoreboard for the first three quarters. Unfortunately, we struggled in the fourth quarter,” coach Sean Romaka said. “Player of the night was Bryson Castro with an excellent performance, scoring 18 points and added five steals.”
Prowler sub-varsity teams sweep Lady Mustangs The Prowlers junior varsity team cruised to a 49-31 defeat over Andrews on Friday.
Karissa Salmon led the way in the scoring department with 12 points for the Prowlers and Dmya Vaugh added 11.
Adamari Renteria also found her way to a double-digit point total with 10.
The freshman team defeated the Lady Mustangs 44-25.
Scoring was led by Addison Castro with 20 points and Diem Hinostroza with 12.
