A well-balanced offense and a sound defense helped the Prowlers junior varsity squad secure a win coming off their holiday break on Dec. 30.

The Prowlers hosted Del Rio and downed the Queens 44-42.

“Defensively, these athletes have it figured out. We, as a team, need to figure out how to be offensive players. We have about a week before our first district game, so we will have it figured out come game time,” coach Sera Ramirez said.

A total of 10 Prowlers scored during Thursday’s contest, led by Yadira Hernandez’s 10 points and Dmya Vaughn’s eight points.

Yvette Lopez finished with six points and Priscilla Trevino had five.

Mayrene Bernal and Vaugh tied for a team-high three rebounds apiece while Lopez dished out three assists.
