JV Panthers find success at Sandhills Classic
The junior varsity Blue Panthers baseball team outscored their four opponents 42-16 en route to a 3-1 record at the three-day Sandhills Classic tourney in Monahans last week.
Fort Stockton defeated Monahans 12-1 to start the event and closed the tournament with a 14-1 victory over Kermit. The Panthers also picked up a 10-7 win over Pecos on day two of the event.
The Panthers lone loss came against Andrews in a one-run game (7-6) to close out play on March 10.
The junior varsity will begin district play along with the varsity on Tuesday, March 21 at Seminole.

The Panthers gained a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back in the six-inning contest.
We had a great pitching duo with Gama Corral to start and Jorrel Tapp to close it out,” Fort Stockton JV head coach Luis Dominguez said.

Dominguez’s squad rallied from a 5-0 deficit to garner a victory against the Eagles behind a strong showing from the Panther pitchers to close the game.
“Ayden Villarreal did a tremendous job on the mound but needed some help from Jorel Tapp and Jose Galindo,” Dominguez said.
Andrews 7 Fort Stockton 6
An early 4-0 lead was not enough for the Panthers to stay undefeated at the Sandhills Classic. The Mustangs late rally vaulted them to a one-run victory in a rivalry matchup.
“We may have lost to them in tournament, but district play will be another story,” Dominguez said.

The Panthers junior varsity Blue team closed out the Loboes three-day tournament in Monahans with their most dominating performance.
Fort Stockton darted out to a 10-0 by the end of the second inning and cruised to a 13-run win.
