Jackson leads Prowlers at state cross country meet
Junior Ali Jackson showed improvement throughout the season as Fort Stockton’s top cross country runner in 2022.
The upperclassman concluded her junior campaign by setting another personal-best mark at the state cross country meet on Nov. 4 in Round Rock.
Jackson placed 41st in Class 4A, an improvement of 11 spots from a year ago. Jackson finished the race in 12 minutes 40 seconds.
“The runners represented Fort Stockton with pride at the top stage of Texas high school cross country. Their hard work, sacrifice and dedication was second to none,” Fort Stockton head coach Sergio Guardiola said.
Senior Fabian Perez led the Panthers in the boy’s race with a 68th place finish in a time of 17 minutes 47 seconds and classmate Juna Vela followed in a time of 18:52 – good enough for 128th place out of 149 runners.
Angel Sanchez of Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis won the boy’s 4A race in a time of 15 minutes 47.5 seconds.
Canyon won the team race with ease, tallying 67 less points (40) than runner-up La Feria.
In the girl’s division, Canyon’s Avery Brown won an individual title in a time of 11:36.6.
Celina claimed the girl’s championship trophy with 70 team points and Fredericksburg followed with 86.
