Hodges wins five gold medals as Panthers take Comanche Relays

The weather wasn’t so friendly at Saturday’s 80th Comanche Relays, with the temperature in the 40s most of the day. But that didn’t seem to matter to the Fort Stockton Panthers, as the Fort Stockton boys garnered a dominating 194 points to win their opening meet.

The Panthers scored in all 17 events with nine first-place finishes.

Zane Hodges earned five gold medals, winning the 110 high hurdles in 14.91 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 40.71 seconds, the high jump with a leap of 6-feet 2 inches, the triple jump at 43 feet 9 inches, and was a part of the firstplace 1,600 relay team.

The 400 relay team of Eduardo Hernandez, Aryan Hernandez, Isaiah Garcia, and Marco Garcia finished first in a time of 43.35 seconds.

The 800 relay team of Eduardo Hernandez, Aryan Hernandez, Isaiah Garcia, Marco Garcia was first in 1:32.77.

The 1,600 relay of Aryan Hernandez, Marco Garcia, Christian Soto and Hodges was first in 3:28.

Cruz Rojas won the shotput with a throw of 41 feet 1 inch and Diego Ronquillo took first in pole vault (9-feet).

Other Panther finishes are as follows: Second place: Isaiah Garcia high jump (5-8), Aryan Hernandez triple jump (40-10).

Third place: Fabian Perez 800 meters (2:20.60), Giovani Rodriguez 110 high hurdles (18.53), Kye Norman 300 hurdles (44.64), Cruz Rojas discus (126-1), Kye Norman high jump (5-6).

Fourth place: Aiden Cobos 800 meters (2:20.63), Diego Ronquillo 1600 meters (5:26.1), Fabian Perez 3200 meters (11:59.20).

Fifth place: Eduardo Hernandez 100 meters (11.78), Christian Soto 400 meters (54.37); Fabian Perez 1600 meters (5:26.4); Aiden Cobos 3200 meters (12:01.41); Xzavier Dominguez discus (104’6”) Sixth place: Isaiah Garcia 200 meters (23.95); Rylan Jimenez 800 meters (2:22.53); Kye Norman 110 high hurdles 19.41; Andre Washington shotput (37-2); Julian Leyva discus (104-6); Eduardo Hernandez long jump (18 feet ¾ inch).

The junior varsity Panthers scored 121 points in their division, placing second behind Klondike’s varsity.

First Place: Jaden Sotelo Pole Vault (8’6”) Second Place: Jamaal Jackson 400 meters (58.57); Jose Aguilar Muniz 3200 Meters (12:19.39); 4x400 Relay Landon Rivas, Jonathan Bueno, Zeke Soto, Jamaal Jackson (3:59.04); Conrad Palacios Pole Vault (8’6”).

Third Place: Kael Rojero 400 meters (59.14), Zeke Soto 800 meters (2:23.34); Kasch Norman 110 Hurdles (18.36); Luis Ramos 300 Hurdles (46.07); 4x200 Relay Landon Rivas, Corbin Luna, Jayden Ramirez, Anthony Cortez (1:42.36); Luis Ramos Triple Jump (35’11”).

Fourth Place: Jonathan Bueno 400 meters (1:00.22); Angel Mendoza 800 Meters (2:27.86); Jose Aguilar Muniz 1600 Meters (5:40.40); 4x100 Relay Landon Rivas, Corbin Luna, Jayden Ramirez, Anthony Cortez (48.62); Diego Ramos Long Jump (16’10”).

Fifth Place: Diego Ramos 100 Meters (12.63); Zeke Soto 400 Meters (1:00.64).

Sixth Place: Kasch Norman 300 Hurdles (48.88); Israel Tercero Discus (88’6”).
