Gomez, Pacheco advance to regionals

Jaslyn Pacheco and Athena Gomez are regional bound after punching their tickets to the event on Monday at the district meet in Seminole.

The girl’s tennis doubles duo accomplished the feat by bouncing back after a loss to Andrews in the championship match. Pacheco and Gomez downed Monahans doubles team in a three-set match (6-4, 4-6, 6-2).

The victory earned them a second-place finish at the event, advancing them to the reginal tournament in Lubbock on April 13-14.

In the boy’s division, Jeremiah Ramirez was the top performer for the Panthers. Ramirez advanced to the semifinals before dropping consecutive matches to the No. 1 seed from Andrews in the semifinals and the Seminole’s No. 1 singles player.
