Fort Stockton XC trio claims medals
The hay was put in the barn for the Fort Stockton cross country team on Friday, as the team ran in their final regular season meet at the Big Bend Mountain Ramble in Alpine.
The Panthers and Prowlers combined to earn three medals at the high school level and two at the middle school level.
Ali Jackson paced the Fort Stockton high school squad for the second consecutive meet with a sixth-place finish, finishing the two-mile race in 12 minutes 32 seconds. The mark was 40 seconds fasters than a week prior.
Leslie Esquivel finished seven second later than Jackson to finish in eighth place. Natalie Molinar (59th) and Priscilla Trevino (66th) rounded out the Prowlers.
Juan Vela was the Panthers top finisher in the high school boys 5K race. Vela placed 15th (18:04) and Jesus Hernandez followed with a 61st place finish.
Kian Iseli placed 63rd and Randy Sandoval took 65th.
Diego Ronquillo led the Fort Stockton middle school runners, crossing the finish line in fifth place. Summer Hinojos and Natalie Edwards also garnered medals, placing 11th and 15th respectively.
Fort Stockton will travel to Andrews for their district meet on Oct. 11 at the Andrews County Golf Course.
