Fort Stockton trio medal in Big Spring
The Fort Stockton Panther tennis team traveled to Big Spring last Friday in preparation for the upcoming district tournament, and had some great individual performances according to head coach Victor Garcia.
“They kicked off March in a great fashion and showing that they will be peaking at the right time with multiple kids reaching semifinals,” Garcia said.
Advancing the semis were both boys singles Jeremiah Ramirez and C.T. Dominguez; girls doubles, Athena Gomez/Jaslyn Pacheco, and boys double, Cruz Rocha/Dylan Jones.
“Unfortunately, those semi matches couldn’t go our way with everyone falling to some tough teams and playing for the third-place medal,” Garcia said.
In boy's singles, Ramirez beat teammate Dominguez in straight sets while in girl's doubles, Gomez/Pacheco triumphed over Monahans in a third set super tiebreaker. In boy's doubles, Rocha/Jones we’re unable to come out on top to a great Greenwood duo.
