Fort Stockton head tennis coach Victor Garcia was more than impressed with the way his team performed at the Midland Lee Invitational on Friday, Feb. 5 - the Panthers second competition of the season.

“Your Panther tennis team had an awesome showing at the Lee Invitational with multiple athletes bringing home some hardware,” he said.

Fort Stockton attained two gold medals and a silver behind strong performances in boys singles and mixed doubles.

JJ Pacheco garnered a top finish in the B draw, a grouping of the schools in attendance No. 2 singles athletes. The sophomore downed Midland Lee’s No. 2 player by the score of 6-2, 7-5.

Audrey Gonzalez and Christian Ramirez teamed up in the mixed doubles division and secured a first-place finish via a three-set victory (3-6, 6-2, 6-3) against Midland Lee’s top duo.

Colton King earned his second silver medal of the season in as many outings with a runner-up finish in the boys A draw. The senior won the second set 6-3 against Midland Lee’s top competitor after dropping the first set 6-1. His opponent closed the match out with a 7-5 victory in set three.

Fort Stockton will host Midland Trinity in a dual on Thursday, Feb. 11 starting at 3:30 p.m.
