Fort Stockton golf team takes 3rd at home tournament

The Fort Stockton golf team competed at their two-day home tournament on Friday and Saturday at Desert Pines Golf Course.

Ejay Ortiz’s team-best score of 175 and Andrew Rangel’s closest-to-hole award highlighted the Panthers third-place finish as a team. Ortiz placed fifth out of 47 golfers that competed at the tournament.

Rangel and Elias Sanchez joined Ortiz in the under-200 club with individual scores of 192 and 199 respectively.

Senior Anthony Gomez was the fourth and final scorer for the Panthers with a 36-hole score of 214.

The Panthers finished with 771 points and were 40 strokes back of Kermit, the tourney champions, and nine strokes back of runner-up Pecos.

Dominic Aguilar rounded out the varsity Panther squad with a 222.
