The Fort Stockton High School and Middle School Cross Country teams returned to the course after being rained out last week at the Lubbock Christian Invite. Seven high school runners attacked the course at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. The Panther boys were led by Diego Ronquillo with a time of 21:07.00 followed by Jose Aguilar (22:15.60) and Santiago Torango (23:49.90). The boys competed with 102 other boys in the 4A division of the meet. Coach Glasscock was pleased with the boys’ effort.

“This is a great opportunity to run a mentally challenging course and learn from the experience in order to better their future times,” said coach Robby Glasscock.

The Prowlers were up to the task as they competed against state powers from Dumas and Canyon. Summer Hinojos finished the course with a 14:19.70 two-mile time. Ingrid Aguilar (15:29.50), Madi Castro (17:44.70) and Natalie Edwards (19:23.20) also competed and showed great determination in completing the difficult course.

“I am very proud of our Panthers and Prowlers and the grit and determination they displayed today against some of the best that this state has to offer,” Glasscock said. “These athletes improved today and that is what matters.”

The Fort Stockton Middle School took to the road this past Wednesday in Rankin. The Prowlers were led by a secondplace finish and medalist Bradalay Jimenez with a 14:55.91 two mile time. Alisha Padilla medaled with a time of 19:01.5, Isabella Bolivar (21:29.34) and Serenidad Vasquez( 24:37.56) showed great determination in hot conditions reaching triple digits.

Julian Vasquez medaled with a time of 13:46.69 and Angel Marquez demonstrated the Team Never Quit motto with a strong 15:01.38.

“These young athletes deserve a great deal of credit for running in 100 degree plus temperatures on mainly asphalt and concrete and never giving up.”, Glasscock said.

The Panthers and Prowlers will invade Big Spring on Saturday, Sept. 29, in their final preparation for the district cross country meet on Oct. 9, in Andrews, Texas.
