Fort Stockton JV 6 Midland 0
The Fort Stockton junior varsity team traveled to Midland to take on the Bulldogs on Sept. 1. The Panthers improved their record to 2-0 with a 6-0 win.
The victory was highlighted by a 75-yard punt return score by Luis Ramos. “Offensively we moved the ball on the Bulldogs, but came up short from punching one into the endzone,” coach Zack Roberson said. “Defensively, we swarmed the Bulldogs only allowing 150 yards of total offense.”
Fort Stockton Freshman Blue 20 Alpine 14
Gerry Diaz and Kasch Norman showed that the Fort Stockton football programs could have a pair of playmakers in the wings in the near future at the varsity level.
The duo combined for three rushing touchdowns and three interceptions in Fort Stockton’s 20-14 against Alpine on Sept. 1. Diaz hauled in three interceptions while also rushing for a nine-yard score. Norman finished the game with rushing touchdowns of 17 and 65 yards.
The Panthers record is 2-0 heading into their bout with El Paso Horizon on Thursday, Sept. 8 in Fort Stockton.
Fort Stockton Freshman White 20 Greenwood 6
The Fort Stockton freshman White team opened the season with a decisive win against Greenwood on Sept. 1. Alonso Urias 58-yard touchdown pass to Diego Ramos capped the Panthers’ victory. Ramos added another TD on the ground and teammate Christian Bislar also found his way to the endzone on a 3-yard run.
