Anthony Gomez came away from the Region I 5A Swimming and Diving Championship in Lubbock as Fort Stockton’s top finisher, recording the eighth most points in the diving competition for the boys team. The Panthers placed 14th in a 30 team field while the Prowlers finished in a three-way tie for 15th place in a 28-team region.
Yajaira Fortson and junior Quaylon Rios claimed 10th place finishes in individual events. Fortson took 10th in the 50 freestyle to go along with another 10th place finish in the 200 free relay.
Fortson was joined by Arissa Jimenez, Ashlyn Foster, and freshman Ailiyah Gonzalez in the 200 free relay. The same group placed 13th in the in the 200 medley relay.
Rios took 10th in the 100 butterfly before joining Andrew Rangel, Connor Miller, and Luke Pules on the 400 free relay team, which placed 11th.
The Panthers and Prowlers had no state qualifiers this season.
