After trailing the majority of the game, the Fort Stockton junior varsity Panthers found a way to earn a victory on the road on Jan. 14 against Greenwood.

Aryan Hernandez and Marco Garcia led the Panthers’ late rally with a team-high 12 points apiece in Fort Stockton’s 41-39 victory.

Johan Mireles contributed with a timely 3-pointer in the closing minutes to keep the Rangers out of reach.

“We struggled offensively for majority of the game, but we managed to keep the Rangers within reach and ultimately come out with a fourth quarter comeback win,” coach Hunter Grice said.

The JV squad improved their record to 6-3 on the season with the win.

Loss column grows for Prowlers JV

In a rough showing, the Prowlers junior varsity fell victim on the road to Greenwood 23-14 on Jan 14.

“It’s tough dropping a game to a district opponent,” coach Sera Ramirez said. “We’re 1-2 in district play and I know these losses have not been taken lightly. My girls have been grinding in practice and when all of our cylinders are firing at the same time, I feel bad for that team on the other side.”

Leading scorers for the Prowlers included Yvette Lopez with five points and Katheryn Mendoza with four. Dmya Vaughn and Mayrene Bernal each added two points.
