Panther tennis season ends at regionals

The Fort Stockton tennis duo of Jeremiah Ramirez and CT Dominguez competed in the regional tournament last week, falling short of a medal. 

The two overcame a lot of adversity, according to coach Victor Garcia. They were the first district champions from Fort Stockton in three years - playing doubles for the first time – and were among the top eight doubles teams in the region.

Track & Field: 5 Panthers, 1 Prowler punch ticket area meet on day 1 of district competition

The Fort Stockton boy’s track and field team is within striking distance of capturing their second consecutive district crown following the first day of competition at the 4A District 3 Track & Field Championships on Thursday.

The Panthers sit in second place – 17 points behind Greenwood – with seven of 17 events being completed on April 13 at the Rangers home track and field facility.

Five Panthers earned an area bid by placing in the top four of their respective events.

Prowler sophomore sensations seal sweep of Maidens

Body

In a contest where the Prowlers left the bases loaded twice, Mia Garcia’s season-best performance at the plate and Fort Stockton’s defensive performance in the final three innings of Tuesday’s contest against Seminole proved to be the deciders.

Garcia’s home run – her fourth dinger of the season – turned a 6-3 deficit into a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the second frame.

Blue Wave swimmer sets 4th record in season finale

A season for the record books concluded its final chapter on April 1 for the Fort Stockton Middle School Blue Wave swim team at the West Texas Middle School Championships. In appropriate fashion, another record fell and the accomplishment vaulted the Prowlers season to the best in school history according to head coach Lily Morales Forst.

Panther track team snags 6 golds en route to title

Fort Stockton’s relay teams were back intact and as they have shown throughout the season, a championship is all but guaranteed when the Panthers are at full strength.

Fort Stockton cruised to a team title in their regular season finale at the Patti Purser Relays in Greenwood last Friday and Saturday.

The Panthers claimed six gold medals and four silver medals to win the meet by 51.5 points over runner-up Seminole.

Fort Stockton Middle School golf teams place second in Monahans

Body

The Fort Stockton Middle School golf team traveled to Monahans to open their season on April 1.

Fort Stockton A boys placed second overall as a team, led by Rylee Muniz who took first place individually with a score round 84.

Damian Gonzalez came in ninth place, scoring a total of 95.

The Fort Stockton A girls also came in second as a team.

Baseball: Junior varsity downs Loboes

Body

The Panthers junior varsity Blue squad extended their win streak with an 8-6 victory over Monahans on March 31.

“Brian Encinas, Jorel Tapp, and Ayden Villarreal had great outing for the panthers. The Panthers offense once again stayed hot and contributed to the win. I couldn’t have asked much more of these boys, they always leave everything on the field,” Fort Stockton coach Luis Dominguez said.
