A Day of the Dead celebration was held on Nov. 1-2 in Fort Stockton on First St. in front of the Original Mexican Restaurant.
J.B. Gallegos and Olga Gonzalez organized the ceremony/gathering. The event featured an altar that displayed submitted photos of loved ones who have passed away and traditional food that accompanies Day of the Dead ceremonies.
Emma Morales, Omar Guerrero and Angela Hernandez played live music at the event as well.
Fort Stockton opened district play with a 35-32 win in double overtime at home against San Angelo Lake View on Oct. 22. The Panthers are 4-0 against Class 4A-Region I District 2 opponents since joining the district in 2020.
The Fort Stockton volleyball team hosted Seminole for their first district home match on Tuesday. The Prowlers nearly came away with a victory but fell in four sets.
Fort Stockton defeated Pecos 42-0 on Sept. 24 to improve their season record to 4-1. The shutout victory was the first since 2018 for the Panthers.
The Prowlers defeated Fort Davis 3-1 at home on Sept. 14.
