The annual Water Carnival Parade took place on Saturday morning in Fort Stockton on Dickinson Boulevard and Main Street. Former Fort Stockton High School graduation classes and Water Carnival contestants, among many others, took part in the event.

Don’t Rain On Our Parade!

The 2022 Independence Day Parade on July 4 in Fort Stockton was met with heavy rains as it finished its final stretch on Main Street. From horses to Jeeps, the crowd welcomed the rain as it made for a good relief from the recent heat. The parade was a true West Texas display of weathering the storm. Photos by Jeremy Gonzalez

Over 30 people attended SpringsFest this past Saturday in Fort Stockton. The event featured a tour of the Comanche Springs Pool, the canal in Rooney Park, a showing of historical documents/photos at the Annie Riggs Museum, and a performance by artist Ken Baucham. Kirby Warnock provided an oral history of the springs and Texas Water Trade CEO Sharlene Leurig gave insight into their organization’s ongoing efforts to get the springs to flow year-round.

It was not just a regular Wednesday morning for some local second graders a week ago. From learning how to use a washboard to making arrowheads and even discovering which animals are native to West Texas, Fort Stockton ISD students had a full morning of watching history come to life at the Annie Riggs Museum on Texas Independence Day.

The Fort Stockton boys basketball team competed in their first home district contest of the season on Jan. 18 against Andrews. The Panthers came up, falling 64-31 to move to 0-2 in district play.
