Sharon Kaye Creech
With deep love and sadness, we celebrate the life of Sharon Kaye Creech—known lovingly as Kaye—who passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Midland, Texas, at the age of 75.
Born on November 9, 1949, in Clinton, Oklahoma, Kaye proudly embraced her Texas roots and called the Lone Star State home. She was a graduate of Sul Ross University and the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL) and spent over 17 years serving the public in Fort Stockton, Texas, as a tax assessor/collector, administrative clerk for the 83rd Judicial District Court, and later, District Clerk for Pecos County.
Kaye’s professional life was marked by dedication and grace, but her truest joys were found in her home and family. She was the beloved wife of Sidney Vernon Creech, a devoted mother to Samantha Ureste and her husband Ralph and Ashlea Velasquez and her husband Marc, and the proud grandmother of Thomas, Patrick, and Sidnee Ureste, and Kristyn and Kollin Velasquez. She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren, Luke and Liam Cereceres.
Kaye was a woman of many passions and talents. She found joy in her garden, nurturing vibrant flowers and plants that brought color and peace to her world. Her creativity shone through her love for needlepoint and handmade gifts—blankets, pillows, and Christmas stockings lovingly crafted for her family. She was an artist with her hands and her heart.
She had a unique sense of humor, a warm smile, and a love for photography and memory-making. Kaye delighted in capturing moments with her grandchildren and sharing them proudly with friends and family. She loved the ocean, and like the sea, she could be both soothing and strong—gentle, wise, and unafraid to speak her mind.
Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, whose memory she held close throughout her life.
A Celebration of Kaye’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Willowbrook Funeral Home, 1311 W. Florida Ave. in Midland, TX.
Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in every flower planted, every handcrafted gift shared, and every memory told. Kaye’s legacy of love, laughter, and creativity will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
