Salvador Rios Castro, Jr., 84, of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on Oct. 16, 2021.

Viewing took place at Heritage Funeral Home of Big Bend for the viewing on Oct. 20, 2021, with Rosary recited afterwards. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.

Salvador is survived by his ex-wife Juanita Castro; his children, Armando (Maria) Castro, Leo (Judy) Castro, Anjel Castro, Salvador III (Lorie), Maria Castro, Israel Castro, and Amy Castro Chacon (Ruben); 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister Mercedes Lopez. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Miguel Barrera and Mariano Castro; and sisters Irene Rubio and Mariana Langford.

Salvador was born Sept. 23, 1937, in Sanderson, Texas, to Salvador Castro, Sr., and Senaida Rios. He met and married Juanita Urias in 1952 in Fort Stockton. He began working at a very early age as a service attendant, and eventually worked his way up to assistant manager. He then moved on to work as a mechanic before becoming employed as the first transportation foreman for Fort Stockton ISD. He worked for FSISD for over 30 years before retiring in 2004.

Salvador enjoyed spending time with his family, cruising the streets of Fort Stockton, fishing, and watching westerns.

He was a devoted father who cherished his time with his children, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a loyal and generous friend, who will always be remembered for the annual family gathering where asado and chicharrons were prepared for all to partake.

Arrangements were entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend.
