Ruben A. Montoya was reunited with his Heavenly Father on Jan. 9, 2022. Ruben was born Oct. 21, 1947, in Manuel Benavidez Chihuahua, Mexico, to Eleodoro and Alejandra Alarcon Montoya.

He was raised and educated in Mexico before coming to Coyanosa, Texas. He worked as a farm hand on numerous farms in the Coyanosa area. He worked 10 years for Braden Farms. He retired in 2012.

He met the love of his life Imelda Martinez in Coyanosa in the early 1980s. Ruben was devoted to his family, and enjoyed working on the farms, as well as training horses.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents Eleodoro and Alejandra Montoya; brothers Jesus A. Montoya and Jose Maria A Montoya; and sisters Manuela Montoya and Amada M. Armendariz.

Ruben is survived by his loving wife Imelda Martinez; sister Elena M. River of El Paso, Texas; brothers Socorro A. (Armida) Montoya of Fort Stockton, Texas, Israel A. (Berta) Montoya of Mexico, Eleodoro A. Montoya, Jr., of Mexico, Daniel A. Montoya of Oklahoma City, Okla.; children Humberto (BJ) (Tanya) Sarabia, Elva (Frank Meza) Sarabia, Christy (Mitch Jannamon) Martinez; 13 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Visitation took place on Jan. 11, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend in Fort Stockton. Funeral service will be held Jan. 12, 2022, at at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend. Interment was at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery following the service.
