Romelia Sanchez Armendariz, 87, of Fort Stockton, Texas, peacefully passed away on Jan. 24, 2021, at her residence.

She was born May 4, 1933, in Escobillas, Chihuahua, Mexico, a daughter of the late Jose Sanchez and Andrea Almazan Sanchez.

Romelia was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Martin Armendariz; brother Gaudencio Sanchez; and sister Alicia Carrasco.

She was a wonderful seamstress and homemaker. She enjoyed drinking coffee, making traditional Mexican food, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Romelia is survived by son Martin Armendariz, Jr., of Fort Stockton; daughters Elida Fabela (George) of Fort Stockton, Arcelia Contreras (Octavio) of Fort Stockton, and Alma Cordero (Jesus) of Fort Stockton; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers Rogelio, Efrain, Anselmo, and Arnulfo; and sisters Concepcion Ortiz, Rosa Rangel, and Nora Vasquez.

She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at Heritage Funeral Home.

Funeral service will start at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Fort Stockton, with Father Hatch officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery.
