Ramon Hernandez Leyva, 82, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on November 29, 2020, in Odessa.

Visitation will be 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 and Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020 at Iglesia Del Dios Vivo. 6841 W. Dunn, Odessa, Texas.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020 at Iglesia Del Dios Vivo with Pastor Emilio Hernandez of Iglesia Del Dios Vivo officiating. Burial will follow at Ector County Cemetery-Peaceful Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted by Martinez Funeral Home and Crematory of Odessa, Texas.

Ramon was born in Boquilla San Isidro Municipal Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico to Juan Aguilar Leyva and Leandra Galindo Hernandez on March 3, 1938. He married Maria De La Luz Macias on Aug. 4, 1966. He was a construction worker.

Ramon, also known as Papi to his grandchildren, was a loving strong man. He could literally fix anything and everything he planted grew. He loved sitting outside and eating watermelon with family and friends. He would often bring watermelons and mangoes to his grandchildren. Ramon was the King of making Asado! Everyone loved and often asked Ramon to make his asado. Ramon also enjoyed hunting, fishing, his garden and animals.

Ramon is preceded in death by his son, Juan M Leyva, parents, siblings: Lucio Leyva, Jose Leyva, Andrea Sarabia and Epigmenio Leyva. Granddaughter; Crystal Gonzales

Ramon is survived by his wife of 54 years, Maria Leyva. Daughter: Alma Gonzales Sons: Ramon M Leyva and wife Alma, Ruben M Leyva and husband Ray. Daughter in Law: Neeley Taylor Sister: Rita Valenzuela Brothers: Humberto Leyva, Arturo Leyva, Ruben Leyva and Auden Leyva. Grandchildren: Vanessa, Adrian, Alex, Josh, Ruby, Dulce, Estrella, Herman, Tanya, Noemi, Allie, Alyssa, Juan David, Yasmin, Joel, Yesenia and Jaquelen. Great Grandchildren: Jacob, Destiny, Kaitlyn, Aurelio, Izmael, Ethan, Geneieve, Marcos Jr, Ny’ella, Baby Julian, Ezra, Alaya and Eveliah. His grandpup Jeffree Star and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be John David Leyva, Adrian Gonzales, Herman Villalobos, Pepe Leyva, Daniel Sarabia and Johnny Leyva.
