Nancy Jean Mitchell Stegall
Nancy Jean Mitchell Stegall was born Nov. 26, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas. She went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on June 14, 2021, in Odessa, Texas.
Nancy was born to Cecil and Lucile Mitchell. She graduated from Sanderson High School, and married Charles E. Stegall on Oct. 6, 1956. Nancy and Charles ranched in Pecos County for over 65 years. Nancy was a Sunday school teacher, a 4-H leader, and a Girl Scout leader. Her passion was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Nancy was instrumental in bringing the Terrell County Hunter’s Feast to Sanderson, Texas, and worked tireless hours to make it successful. She was always community driven, and would often help out by donating time and money to the Terrell County Fair Association, the local school district, and the First Presbyterian Church.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Stegall; a sister-in-law, Shirley Mitchell; and nephew, Michael Mitchell.
Survivors include her children Darlene Stegall of Fort Stockton, Texas, Robert Stegall of Sanderson, and Judy Stegall Houston (Clay) of Sanderson; grandchildren Shawn Stegall (Hanna) from Oklahoma City, Okla., Brandee Stegall Monson (Kyle) of Great Falls, Mont., Crystal Perez (Fernie) of Fort Stockton, and Trevin, Madison, and Kolby Houston of Sanderson; great grandchildren Shawn Robert Stegall of Oklahoma City, Penelope Ann Galindo of Fort Stockton, and Aelita Manson of Great Falls. She is also survived by nephew Clay Mitchell (Marka); brother David Mitchell (Sandra); and great nephews Trey Mitchell (Julie) and Colby Mitchell (Lindsey).
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Sanderson.
