Juan Deleon Hernandez entered into rest on Jan. 31, 2021. He was born on June 3, 1933, to Pedro Hernandez Ruelas and Delfina Hernandez Deleon.

Juan was a hardworking man who started working as a dump truck driver in the Boquillas area and in numerous ranches in Brewster County, Texas. He worked for Chilo Acosta in sheep shearing for many years. He also worked Candelia in Las Norias, Texas. He worked for 30 years at Big Bend Rio Grande Village.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Hernandez Ruelas and Delfina Hernandez Deleon; sister Sara Hernandez; brother Alfonzo Hernandez; sons Juan Hernandez, Jr., and Roberto Hernandez; grandson Sandro Hernandez; great granddaughters Leilah Hernandez and Anahi Hernandez; and daughter-in-law Fransisca Hernandez.

Juan is survived by his wife, Maria Hernandez Ureste; brothers Pedro Hernandez, Jose Hernandez, Manuel Hernandez, Alberto Hernandez, Domingo Hernandez, Javier Hernandez, and Luis Hernandez; sister Elvira Hernandez; children Hernan Hernandez, Flora Hernandez and spouse Pedro Pacheco, Tranquilino and spouse Gloria Hernandez, Hilda and spouse Jaime Vasquez, Sara Hernandez, Domingo Hernandez, Jesus and spouse Noemi Hernandez, Luis Hernandez, Manuel and spouse Minerva Hernandez, Elodia Hernandez and spouse Jorge Bernal, and Dominique Hernandez; 33 grandchildren, and 41 great grandchildren.

The visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at Grace Point Church. The service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Grace Point Church. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery. Due to coronavirus, occupancy is limited at all locations.
