Joyce Lavern Walters
Joyce Lavern Walters, 89, of Ft. Worth, TX passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Born August 5, 1935, in McNeil, AR to the late Roy Thurman and Faith Evelyn (Hopper) Westbrook. Joyce spent her life serving the Lord, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Fort Stockton, TX, where she served as a deacon and church treasurer, taught Bible school, Sunday school, and was the President of the Christian Women’s Fellowship; served as a deacon and elder at the First Christian Church in El Dorado, AR and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Magnolia, AR.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hubert (Lefty) Walters, sister Virginia Franklin, and brothers Johnny Westbrook and Bobby Westbrook. She is survived by her son, Mark (Elayne) Walters of Ft. Worth, TX; daughters, Diane (Patrick) Cummings of Sherman, TX and Tara (Bob) Riley of Denton, TX; grandchildren; Justin Palmer, Cameron Bachman and Easton Walters of Fort Worth, TX, Kory (Jacky) Cummings of Sherman, TX, Scarlett Cummings of Sherman, TX, Brittany Dailey of Denton, TX, Blake (Claire) Dailey of Justin, TX,, Brandon (Stephanie) of Rhome, TX; great grandchildren, Sidney Cummings, Mia Cummings, Gracelyn Dailey, Teagan Riley, Troy Riley, Nolan Riley and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR with Rev. David Moore officiating. Burial followed at the New Hope Cemetery in McNeil, AR. Visitation was on Friday, April 25 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
