Jesus Jessie” Cardenas Baiza was born on March 18, 1935, in Agujita, Coahulia, Mexico, to the late Valentin and Julia Baiza. Jessie went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sept. 23, 2022.

Jessie is survived by his children Grace Pulk (the late David) of Double Oak, Texas, Jessie Baiza (Arlene) of Houston, Texas, and Ella Juarez (Michael) of Flower Mound, Texas; his grandchildren Jacqueline Pulk and Katherine Pulk of Double Oak, Michael Pulk (Monty) of Houston, Texas, Lara Calo (Vinnie) of Frisco, Texas, Brianna Baiza of Chicago, Ill., Collin Baiza of Houston, and Mia Juarez and Trent Juarez of Flower Mound; his sister Dora Rascon (the late Luciano) of Odessa, Texas; brothers Candelario Baiza (MaryAnn) of Chicago, Rogelio Baiza (Alicia) of Fort Stockton, Texas, and Ramiro Baiza (the late Corina) of Cedar Park, Texas; his in-laws Frank Granado Sr (Mary Alice) of Fort Stockton, Texas, Shelia Rivera (the late Adan) of Rockwall, Texas, and Felipe Chavarria (the late Eva) of Fort Stockton.

Jessie was preceded by his wife Elizabeth Baiza, and his parents Valentin and Julia Baiza.

Jessie was a loving husband of 57 years, and a devoted father to his three children, Grace, Jessie and Ella. He immigrated at a young age, settling in West Texas. His love for horses and ranching began while working with his father which then grew into a life-long passion. Jessie worked as a mechanic followed by a short stint in crop-dusting. He then made a 40-plus year career working for Valley Distributors, Inc.

Jessie spent his free time working with horses. He roped, broke, trained, and raced Quarter horses and Thoroughbreds. He also enjoyed hunting, which allowed him to travel to Botswana, Republic of South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. When Jessie was not working with horses or hunting, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his family, especially when he got to travel to Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay with them. His high work ethic continued on after retirement, always seeking a job, a task, or an activity. He was never not working.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Dallas Safari Club or Dallas Safari Club Foundation. Jessie had a true love for the outreach efforts of DSC and their mission to make certain the conservation of wildlife through public engagement, education and advocacy.
