James P. Gonzales, 60 years old, of Fort Stockton, passed away on April 29, 2022, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Rosary will be 9 a.m., Monday, May 9 at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Stockton, Texas with memorial services to follow.

Jim was born in Fort Stockton to Jesse and Enedina Gonzales on Jan. 13, 1962. He went to Fort Stockton High School and went on to complete his Bachelor’s degree at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. Jim married Ella Veronica Bueno on July 11, 1987, in Fort Stockton. He worked as a counselor at the High Frontier for several years. The last 12 years Jim worked in the oil industry as a mud engineer. He was a tremendous Cowboy and Longhorn fan. Jim enjoyed grilling for his family and friends and making everyone laugh. He was proud of his children’s accomplishments and had big dreams for his grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Enedina Gonzales.

Jim is survived by his wife Ella, children: Jessica Marie, her husband Derek Van Winkle; and James Matthew and his wife Raquel Carrasco. Grandchildren: Reece Van Winkle, Emery Gonzales and Audrey Gonzales, brothers: Steve Perez and his wife Norma, Jesse Gonzales and his wife Camber, and Dan Gonzales and his wife Annette.

The Gonzales family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Texas Oncology, Star Hospice, brothers Jesse and Dan and to his close friends for staying in Jim’s fight for all of us until the end.
