Glenn Wesley Cornett went to be with his Lord and Savior in his eternal heavenly home on April 6, 2021, at the age of 86. He was born in Ranger, Texas, on Jan. 12, 1935, to Irma and George Cornett.

They moved to Welsh, Texas, where they lived on a farm and he attended school. He met the love of his life in Big Spring, Texas, in 1953 at the skating rink. They were married on Feb. 9, 1955, in Big Spring. Glenn joined the U.S. Army in 1954, and was discharged in 1962. The family lived in Big Spring, and he worked at a sheet metal shop. In 1966 the family moved to Fort Stockton, Texas, and he worked for Powell Plumbing. He later worked for Valero, and retired in 1997. After moving to Fort Stockton, Glenn was baptized, and was a devout Christian his entire life.

Glenn made his family a wonderful, loving home. He built two barns, horse pens, horse stalls, and garage. He always had a garden that flourished. One of his proudest accomplishments was his red 1949 Chevy pickup that he built from the frame up. He made sterling silver jewelry for everyone in the family. He raised cattle, sheep, and alfalfa, and planted numerous trees around the house. He had many dogs he loved, and Hallie was his last dog that was by his side when he passed away.

He always told his children “you could do anything you put your mind to,” and he also lived by that motto. He loved to travel (Hawaii, New England, California, and Wyoming to his grandson’s National Finals Rodeo), play 42, hunt, and fish. He knew how to tell the best jokes. He attended all family celebrations.

Glenn was a perfect example of what a man should be - a leader to Christ, family centered, and hard working. He was truly loved by his entire family. All his family and friends will truly miss our beloved cowboy! But the love of his life of 66 years will forever miss his smiling face and jokes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Eleanor Cornett; children Glenna Cornett Dulaney and husband Johnny, Ross Cornett and wife Tammy, Lori Cornett Stennett and husband Dale, and Wade Cornett and wife Denise; grandchildren Julie Simmons (Landry and Blakely), Jami Dale (Tatum and Dustee Grace), Becky Dulaney (Brantly and Presley), Nicole and Tim McLean (Alyssa, Madelyn, and Daylan), Brooke and Mikey Scown, Britney Cornett, Caleb and Jordan Harrison (Charlie and Grace), Ryan Harrison (Brody), Tyson Cornett, Clay and Heather Ward (Piper), Shyann and Michael Hunt (Irie, Bryson, and Weston), Sterling and Kim Ward (Kassie and Kylie); and his sisters Midge Hobbs and Nola Howard.

He was preceded in death by parents Irma and George Cornett; brothers Desmond Cornett, Horace “Shorty” Cornett, F.N. Cornett, and Carl Cornett; grandsons Dusty and Cody Dulaney; and mother-in-law Nancy Grantham.

Pallbearers were Julie Simmons, Jami Dale, Becky Dulaney, Nicole McLean, Katie Pules, Britney Cornett, Hunter Stennett, Caleb Harrison, Brooke Scown, Ryan Harrison, and Tyson Cornett; and honorary pallbearers were Dale Stennett, Johnny Dulaney, Tim McLean, Matthew Pules, Mikky Scown, Clay Ward, Sterling Ward, Michael and Shyann Hunt, Arlie Weatherman, and Melvin Duncan.

Services were held April 11, 2021, at the Church of Christ in Fort Stockton, and burial followed at the East Hill Cemetery.
